JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Italian ambassador to ASEAN Roberto Palmieri said his country as the current chair of the G8 would coorganize an International Energy Forum with Indonesia as the current ASEAN chair next September.
When paying a visit to ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Surin Pitsuwan at the ASEAN Secretariat here Tuesday, the Italian ambassador said his country has been focusing on energy security and management issues. The International Energy Forum will be held in Jakarta, from September 13 to 15, 2011, according to a pres statement of the ASEAN Secretariat here Wednesday.
The ambassador also requested the ASEAN Secretariat to help encourage focal points on energy in ASEAN member atates to participate in the forum. Ambassador Palmieri expressed his gratitude for the facilitation and cooperation accorded to him during his tenure in Jakarta which will end on July 14, 2011.
He also presented a letter from the Italian foreign minister concerning the appointment of a new Italian ambassador to ASEAN.
